Diversity of creative ideas has always been the
hallmark of home decorating. That's why I've asked
designer, artist, educator and writer, Marney
Makridakis, to share her own unique brand of
decorating advice in our "Ask the Decorator" column. I
think you'll enjoy her wit and original insights.

A Quick Word From Your's Truly!

Where does the time go? Can you believe that 2003 will
be done and over with in just a few days. Ok, 9 days.

But it's not too soon to start thinking about your
New Year's resolutions.

One of mine is to do more dusting around the house. I
can't stand doing this tedious task. Maybe that's
because as soon as I do it, a week or two later it
needs to be done again.

Or maybe it's because I have to move stuff around to
do a really good job. But then I have to move it back.
Yuck! Any volunteers? :-)

But that's just me.

What New Year's resolution do you have for your home?

Could it be the one that I always harp on? Yep,
getting rid of clutter. Ok, here I go again!

This is probably the easiest thing you could ever do
to give a room a fresh look and warm your mood as
soon as you walk into it.

So, I encourage you to de-clutter your home for the
new year. And if you need a system to help you get
organized and keep things that way, then check out the
helpful systems from Get Organized Now!.

You'll find a link to them near the end of this
newsletter. See the Recommended Resources section.

Other than that, I hope you're enjoying the holidays
and I wish you a very happy new year. I'll check in
with you in January.

Your Decorating Success Stories

I want to thank Maryellen McCracken and Joann (no last
given) for sharing their decorating success stories,
complete with how-to instructions.

They submitted their jewels through our brand new form
at Your Decorating Success Story.

Maryellen will tell you how she and her husband created
a window valance and swag with no professional help!

They did a marvelous job and even sent along photos. Click
her for the full story

Joann shares her story of how she painted a wall in a
very cool geometric pattern to create a focal point
and conversation piece. Click here to get the full story.

Great job, Maryellen and Joann.

Do you have a decorating story that you'd like to
share with the rest of us? We'd love to hear about it!
It's super easy to do. Just click here

Update On New Decorating Web Site

As many of you already know, we're in the process of
creating a new web site, solely dedicated to
decorating children's rooms.

But we've added an interesting twist to it. Just wait
and see. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and
pleased.

On a related note, as we create the content for the
Web site, I've noticed that we could use more photos.

Do you have some digital pictures of your decorated
children's room? If so, we'd love to post them on the
new Web site to give as many visuals as possbile.
Naturally, we'll mention your name as the contributor.

You can send the photos to me at
michael@home-decorating-made-easy.com.

DecoDiva, Marney, Puts Her Artisty on Display

If you've reviewed any of our ebooks, you've seen a
small sample of Marney Makridakis' work. She is a very
talented artist in many respects.

Besides being a wonderful decorator, she is a craft
designer, writer, and artist. Her works have been
displayed nationally in art shows and her writings
have been published in well-known crafts magazines.

Well, after some nudging from me, she has created a
Web site to showcase her creative writing and artistic
talents. The Web site is called...

Artella Words and Art.com

She publishes her own magazine and offers original
artwork of her own as well as other artists.

It's a truly wonderful site and I invite you to check
it out!
