Resin Wicker Outdoor Furniture

by HDME Staff

If you enjoy the soft and elegant appearance of wicker on a deck or patio, you may wish to consider looking into resin wicker outdoor furniture. It is constructed to have the same look as natural wicker, but it is manufactured out of woven polyethylene.

This may sound like a strange chemical, but it is actually simply recycled plastic which is shaped into the wicker-like weave, which is then fitted to a solid aluminum frame, which may or may not be powder-coated.

These materials are not only attractive, but they are also resistant to wear, cold, wet, heat, and even snow. Its UV resistance sets it apart from many of the other kinds of patio furniture currently available, as it will not crack or fade even after use year-round under the brightest sun.

Since resin wicker outdoor furniture is made out of recycled materials and is highly durable, this makes it a very environmentally friendly option. Not only does it prevent plastic from heading into landfills, but it also takes much longer to wear out, staying out of dumps and landfills itself for a longer time than patio furniture made out of most other materials. This makes resin wicker outdoor furniture a pleasant option for the environmentally conscious individual.

If you are glad that the product is a green one but are concerned about the appearance, then you’ll still be happy with resin wicker outdoor furniture. There are many different colors, styles, designs, and pieces in this material. Therefore, just because you’re being environmentally friendly, it doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice the visual appeal of your patio.

To make sure that you’re buying the best possible product that will last and maintain its appearance for the longest amount of time, have a close look at the weave of the piece. The rule of thumb with resin wicker outdoor furniture is that the tighter the weave, the better the quality of the piece.

Since there is such a rapidly growing demand for patio furniture made out of this material, an increasing number of patio manufacturers are starting to offer their own lines. This creates more options for styles and looks while keeping the price down because it has generated competition among the brands. This means that now you can get stylish, environmentally friendly chairs, tables, loungers, sofas, loveseats, stools, and other pieces for very affordable prices.

It is especially friendly to the pocketbook when you compare resin wicker outdoor furniture to the cost of actual natural wicker furniture, which can run up a hefty bill for even the smallest and most basic café or bistro patio set. The resin wicker furniture allows you the same look using environmentally conscious synthetics, but without having to limit yourself due to budget, or break the bank in the process.

We love it!
by: Jewlya

We purchased resin wicker outdoor furniture for our deck several years ago and it has lasted wonderfully. It looks just as nice to day as it did the day we purchased it in spite of the fact that it stays in the weather all year long.

It will do in a pinch
by: Maya

I have some inexpensive resin furniture that I bought over the summer, but what I don't like about it is that it is so lightweight that it goes flying during our summer storms!

Love This Type Of Furniture
by: Randa Keeton

I love the feel of the resin wicker outdoor furniture. The only problem is I haven't found the style I really want yet. I haven't given up and I'll be on the lookout for some even this winter for next year.

Cleans up nicely too!
by: Delores

I love my resin wicker outdoor furniture. The price is right and it cleans up in a jiffy. I do find it sticky on humid days, so I made cushions for the seats as well.

Good stuff
by: Smith

Resin wicker outdoor furniture is right up my alley. but because of the high winds we experience where we live, we're not going to buy any until we enclose our front porch. But yeah, that's good stuff.

More durable
by: Betty

I've had real resin wicker outdoor furniture in the past and it looks lovely, but I really need something that can hold up to various weather conditions with little maintenance. This sounds like the way to go.

Wicker is the best
by: AmberT

I found a great set of resin wicker outdoor furniture at an estate sale. I got it for a great deal. I did have to scrub it up and then I repainted it. It's very comfy and looks great too. I say get some if you are looking for outdoor furniture.

Love it

I spent a whole summer looking for resin wicker outdoor furniture at yard sales. I didn't want to go buy it new (It's expensive). I finally found some and I love it. It's on our screened in back porch. Is there anyway to winterize or weatherize it so it can be put outside?

I've Seen It
by: Alley

I've seen resin wicker outdoor furniture offered for sale but I was wondering the same thing as another poster. Is it hot to sit in?? I love wood wicker but it is usually cool and comfortable to sit in. Resin in and of itself isn't a problem for me but I wouldn't want to be hot and miserable while I'm relaxing on the porch.

Not a fan of resin furniture
by: RuthAnn

It is good that the resin furniture is available and cuts down on waste. I, however, have had bad experiences with it breaking on me.

Good green option

I like the fact that resin wicker outdoor furniture is made from recycled materials.I know that my parents had real wicker chairs that lasted for years and hopefully these synthetic ones will be just as hard wearing.

Good pricing and no snags
by: Jaydee

Anything which is easy on the pocketbook whilst being durable has got to be a good thing.

My past experiences with deck and patio furniture has been with the uncomfortable wooden type or the attractive wicker which tends to rip or snag your clothes. Hardly a good impression on guests either.

I am very interested in this option but would like to know if it is prone to producing moisture if sat in for a while on a hot day.
